Hailam Sun Sun Nam Cheong @ KKB

Kuala Kubu Baru (a.k.a. KKB) is the small town of the foot of Fraser Hill, Malaysia. But for your information, Fraser Hill is in the state of Pahang, but KKB is falls under the territory of Selangor state.

In this small town, there is a eating place that is very popular among the locals and tourists. Their signature servings are the Hailam Chicken Chop, Hailam Mee (Noodles), Nasi Lemak Bungkus (Prepacked Coconut-milk Steamed-Rice with Chili Paste), Classic French Toasts, and Home Receipe Hailamnese Black Coffee with Milk.

Restaurant Hailam Sun Sun Nam Cheong ( 新南昌 茶室 ) is the name of the eating place. This restaurant is owned by a local chinese couple, but their restaurant is certified by the local authorities as the Halal restaurant. Therefore, you will be no surprise that you will see many muslim patrons is enjoying the wonderful meals in the restaurant.

Personally, I love their Milk Coffee. I can bet you that the smoothness of the coffee taste will makes you double your order. Hahaha!

Besides the food, you may also have the chance to see the art of this old building. In the shop, on the wall of both side, you may notice many newspaper / magazine cuttings of the write-ups featuring this restaurant.

The chef of this restaurant, also is the owner of the restaurant has been awarded with many winning awards in cooking throughout the years in business. If I am not wrong, it was dated since year 1985 till recent years.

Salute to you uncle!!! good job!! keep it up!!

p/s: I am now visiting this restaurant, at least once a month just to pamper my passion in chinese food.

Hillview Restaurant @ Fraser Hill

It has been a long long long time that I have not visited to Fraser Hill. Hmm...1,2,3,4 lets count back...I think it was like 28 years back (maybe)? hahaha!!

Anyway, I heard some of my friends and as well as my parents which went there lately, found that the place is still as nice as before with not many changes.

Let's go and see see....I went up hill later in the morning, and it rains heavily during my journey. Reached there at almost 2pm with the empty tummy.

And when I was at Fraser Hill, I found this restaurant that operated by the local chinese. With a phone call to my friend in Kuala Lumpur, he actually recommend this place.

The restaurant name is Hillview. The place is clean and the food are good. Nice warm food in the cold atmosphere that makes me keep on adding my order.

I have tried the fried rice, fried kuey teow and the sweet-sour fillet. Believe me, even the emperor's tongue will say good on these food.

Dinner: Laut Sungai Yu Restaurant 双溪由 (芭头) 海鲜 @ Klang

This restaurant is recommended by my friend, Ah Boon. It is located near to his hometown in Taman Sentosa, Klang.

When I arrived to the restaurant, the place is full house. The corridor outside the restaurant as well has set up with the huge canopy to occupy the large crowds for this festive season, the Chinese New Year holiday break.

While getting a table for myself, i browsing the food on people’s table. The food seem good and delicious. Almost every table ordered the fried crabs, fish, prawns cooked in coconut shell, ballacan kang-kung. Those must be the famous dishes for this restaurant.

After talking with my friend, Ah Boon and his wife, Siow Ling. They said to me, beside those dishes, the crab-meat beancurd soup, sweet-sour-sauce fried fish, otak-otak, steamed clams, and grilled ray fish are also the choice of chef.

So, we ordered those and try. It is simply great. The grilled fish is juicy, so tasty, and yet not too spicy. The beancurd soup is taste similar to those shark-fin soup, but the taste is much different and better than those big-chinese-restaurants, and 5-star chinese kitchen. Great Job!!

The other dishes that we ordered are good too. I wonder who is the cook, and wanted to visit their kitchen. But my friend blocked me from doing it. Maybe next time I will go and check out the kitchen, when there are lesser patrons.
Oh ya, I forgot something…very important!! The place and foods are good, but how’s the bill going to be? Let’s wait and see…
The bill total is reasonable (I can even say, very afforable. Less than RM30 / USD10 per head). And all of us are so full.
Go yourself and try it, as I always say, I do not simply give out my recommendation in food. Trust me!

HDR Photo: Buddha @ FGS Dong Zen Temple, Jenjarom

Every year, FGS Dong Zen Temple in Jenjarom will organize a huge lantern carnival in conjuction with the Chinese New Year festive. Today, I went to the temple and take some shots. I arrived the place in the evening, but the sky has turned grey. It’s look like I can’t stay any longer as the storm is coming soon.

Just before the rain pour, I managed to get back into my car. Just be there for 15 minute, these are two photo that I took at the FGS Dong Zen Temple, Jenjarom. I took them in High Dynamic Range (HDR).

Knowing (non-sense)

I m backed from Langkawi for “vacation”. I have discovered many things and found many things on this trip. I felt I shouldn’t went for this trip after all.

Things don’t just happen. Knowing too much is not an easy life. Especially when u know things from different dimensions, and know what’s going to happen next.

Anyway, got to back to my daily life again. And “stand” back to my work.

P/S: here goes all my “holidays” and my vacation. Hope u all like my ‘Langkawi’ photo.

The Business / War of Chinese Hawker Stalls in Malaysia.

As for the people that know me, i do love hawker food. they are delicious, portion is large, price are reasonable. and you really can enjoy yourself, as really can "being yourself" at hawker stall.
(provided the place is clean, and easy on car-park space)

but one thing that i don't like about the (chinese) hawker place. those chinese-ah-pek (chinese uncle) are very selfish, being unreasonable in business. they always like to divided the business place into territory. you are not allowed to bring food or drinks from another corner to that corner. you have to buy their food inorder to sit on their tables.

and thats created war in between the "good business" and the "lousy business" stalls. it is really inconvinience, espeically you are going there in a crowd. all of us might not having the same food.

damn it!!! china-ah-pek, please think widely, open up your mind-lah.
